In the first session, Dr. Cahya Edi Setyawan presented the stages of writing a journal article, starting from selecting a topic to the publication process. One of the main highlights was the importance of identifying research gaps and novelty in research, which are key elements in producing articles that contribute new knowledge to the field. Dr. Cahya also discussed how to structure a journal article in accordance with journal guidelines, including writing the title, abstract, methodology, results, and discussion sections. He also explained the technical procedures for submitting articles via the Open Journal Systems (OJS), a platform for managing article submissions to academic journals.

Meanwhile, Dr. (C). Hj. Lu’luun Nisai provided an in-depth explanation of the importance of identifying research gaps in research. She explained that a research gap refers to unanswered questions or unresolved issues in previous research, which create an opportunity for new contributions. Dr. Lu’luuun also outlined various types of gaps, such as literature gaps, methodological gaps, and practical problems, and how to identify these gaps in research to create novelty in scholarly articles. This is crucial to ensure that the written article contributes something new to the ongoing academic discourse.

The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session where students had the opportunity to directly engage with the speakers about the challenges they face in writing journal articles. This event successfully provided students with practical tools to prepare high-quality journal articles ready for publication in reputable journals.
