Building Academic Branding through Digital Content: MBSA’s Innovation in the Age of Social Media

Yogyakarta — The Master’s Program in Arabic Language and Literature (MBSA), Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences, UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta reaffirmed its commitment to digital literacy by organizing a Workshop on Social Media Content Creation on Thursday and Friday (October 9-10, 2025). The event featured two inspiring speakers: Dr. Ahmad Muhdhor, Lc., M.Pd.I. and Dr. Toni Pransiska, who shared practical and strategic insights on producing quality digital educational content.

This initiative stems from the academic world's urgency to transition from being mere consumers of digital information to becoming producers of high-quality content. Today, social media has evolved into a digital laboratory, capable of showcasing the academic, cultural, and Islamic values of institutions to the public.

Transforming Academic Digital Literacy

Dr. Ahmad Muhdhor opened the session by emphasizing the importance of intention in becoming an educational content creator. He discussed strategies for effective communication on social media, writing compelling captions, and maximizing Instagram features for program branding. Consistency, strong visuals, and inspirational messages were highlighted as key success factors.

Dr. Toni Pransiska, meanwhile, described social media as a digital laboratory for expressing and disseminating Arabic linguistic and literary knowledge. He guided participants through the creative process — from trend research and scriptwriting to production and content optimization on YouTube and Instagram.

“It’s time to ground Arabic linguistics in creative and emotionally engaging content,” he said.

Fusing Academic Spirit with Digital Creativity

This event was a concrete manifestation of MBSA’s vision to integrate Islamic scholarship with digital modernity. Students and lecturers participated in hands-on simulations producing short videos, podcasts, and infographics reflecting the program’s identity, academic values, and digital transformation spirit.

Key content ideas included:

  • Lecturer and alumni profiles

  • Modern Arabic linguistic tips

  • The “العربية سهلة” (Arabic is Easy) series

  • ArabiTalks podcast as a space for academic dialogue

This workshop is expected to accelerate MBSA’s digital branding while addressing the global challenge of knowledge dissemination through technology. The integration of educational content with Islamic values sets MBSA apart in the contemporary digital knowledge landscape.

Intellectual Synergy and Digital Innovation

The workshop showcased the immense potential of MBSA’s students and lecturers to pioneer academic content creation on social media. It reaffirms that MBSA is not only a scholarly hub but also a vibrant producer of enlightening digital narratives.
